Method Description:
This impact assessment method is based on Eco-indicator 99.

Eco-indicator 99 presented damage factors for three perspectives: hierarchist perspective, egalitarian perspective, and individualist perspective.

This impact assessment method uses the Eco-indicator 99 damage factors for the substance
lists that can be found in most popular LCA databases. In this case the hierarchist perspective is used, combined with the default (average) weighting factors.

Methodological Range:
Geographical Boundary: All emissions and all forms of land-use are assumed to occur within Europe. The damages for most impact categories are also assumed to occur in Europe, with the following exceptions:
- The damages from ozone layer depletion and greenhouse effects are occurring on a global scale, as European emissions are influencing the global problem and not just the European.
- The damages to resources are occurring on a global scale.

Time Boundary: The method models emissions as if they are emitted during 1999.
